Position Overview The position represents a managerial role within the Prime Middle Office, combining strategic oversight with deep operational expertise. This executive-level position requires significant relevant experience in equity financing, prime brokerage, or middle office operations, with a Bachelor's degree required and MBA or professional qualifications preferred. The role is positioned globally across multiple regions, serving as the senior operational subject matter expert for complex financing transactions and lifecycle events. The candidate will provide comprehensive ownership of the equity financing operating model, bridging front office trading and sales functions with operations, technology, risk, and control teams. Role Summary This role serves as the critical strategic bridge between Equity Financing Trading, Prime Brokerage, and Sales teams on one side, and Operations, Technology, Risk, Treasury, Product Control, Legal, and Compliance functions on the other. The position demands a unique combination of deep product expertise, operational excellence, and strong business acumen with risk awareness and transformation leadership capabilities. The candidate is expected to own outcomes rather than simply managing processes, taking responsibility for identifying control and business risks, challenging existing frameworks, driving sustainable remediation, and improving operational scalability. The role requires representation of the function in senior management forums and the ability to translate complex business requirements into executable operational strategies.
Business Scope ◼ Equity Financing, Stock Loan, and Securities Borrowing & Lending operations ◼ Equity Prime Services including Cash Prime Brokerage and Synthetic Prime Brokerage ◼ Equity Cash and Derivatives Middle Office interface management ◼ Long inventory financing and securities inventory monetization strategies ◼ Stock borrow/locate, recalls, returns, substitutions, and financing lifecycle management ◼ Cash and non-cash collateral structures, margin requirements, and pledge/financing arrangements ◼ End-to-end trade lifecycle management including settlement, reconciliation, exposure management, and exception governance Strategic Leadership & Business Ownership ◼ Provide executive oversight of the global Equity Financing/Stock Loan middle-office framework ◼ Serve as senior operational SME for complex financing transactions, structures, and lifecycle events ◼ Partner strategically with Front Office to understand business strategy, financing demand, and client requirements ◼ Translate business requirements into scalable operating models, controls, and technology solutions ◼ Oversee comprehensive exception-management frameworks and senior-level issue resolution protocols ◼ Lead governance for trade amendments, corrections, cancellations, and approval workflows ◼ Drive global process consistency and service standards while accommodating market-specific requirements ◼ Identify strategic opportunities to improve client service, reduce operational risk, and enhance financing economics Product Expertise Requirements The candidate must demonstrate comprehensive understanding of securities lending, stock borrowing, equity financing, and prime brokerage mechanics. This includes mastery of the economics surrounding general collateral versus specials, borrow availability, lending fees, rebates, and financing spreads. The role requires deep knowledge of the complete lifecycle from locate/borrow requests and trade execution through settlement, collateralization, recalls, returns, and close-out procedures. The candidate must provide strategic oversight of inventory availability, stock loan positions, financing balances, and utilization metrics. Understanding of long inventory monetization and the complex interactions between equity holdings and financing structures is essential. The position demands expertise in cash and non-cash collateral structures, including pledge/security-interest arrangements and beneficial-ownership considerations, while partnering effectively with Trading, Treasury, and Risk teams to assess funding, liquidity, leverage, and capital implications. Risk & Control Framework The candidate owns the operational control environment for Equity Financing/Stock Loan within the first line operating framework, working closely with second-line Risk and Compliance functions to establish, maintain, and evidence effective regulatory controls. This includes ensuring compliance with securities lending, short-selling, collateral, settlement, capital, liquidity, and market regulations across all applicable jurisdictions. The role requires leadership in control testing, validation, issue remediation, and governance reviews across relevant operational processes. The candidate must challenge risk acceptance decisions, manual controls, and process gaps where residual risk levels are inappropriate. The position involves supporting internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and risk assessments while ensuring new products, markets, and financing structures undergo appropriate governance and operational readiness assessments. Strategic oversight of reconciliation frameworks, counterparty exposure management, and key risk indicator monitoring across global markets is essential.
