Role & Responsibilities:
Instinet DBA team manages and supports the DBA servers across all geographies - on premise as well as in AWS cloud platform. The team works in follow-the-sun model in collaboration with the team in US.
This is an individual contributor position within Mumbai IT team and is a critical part of our Engineering organization. Experience is 5-7 years.

Detailed role and responsibilities are as follows:
 Installation, maintenance, upgrades, and release management of databases
 Database monitoring, performance tuning, database backup, clustering, replication, scripting to automate processes.
 Develop and troubleshoot database stored procedures and functions.
 Develop, document, and deploy database technical services.
 Perform database backup and restore, ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements
 Provide top-level technical assistance to business units and Customer Support department.
 Work with peers and other support organizations to deploy new services.
 Operate in teamwork environment with internal and external customers.
 Shifts (rotation basis):
o Mon to Friday 8.30 am IST to 5.30 pm IST
o Mon to Friday 1.30 pm IST to 10.30 pm IST
o Weekend support – ad hoc project basis / on rotation

Key Skills:

Mandatory:-
 Strong DBA experience in at least one DBs (out of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL) – with some background/experience on other DBs
 Experience in Oracle 19C data guard, MS-SQL 2012/14/16/19 always on
 Experience in Oracle Grid Control
 Experience in AWS RDS (Aurora MySQL, Redshift)
 Experience in migrating databases to AWS
 Proactive Monitoring, notifying and tuning database and application for optimal performance
 Programming/Shell scripting to automate daily DBA tasks

Technical:-
 Well versed in tasks like performing database backup and restore, ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements
 Able to work with developers for query performance tuning
 Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix, windows and AWS Architecture
 Team Player with excellent verbal and written communications required, as there is a significant interaction with client/end user communities.
 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
 Quick learner
 Highly proactive and takes initiative to identify problem areas and evolve solutions.

Desirable:-
 Experience in MySQL 7.x and 8.x, SAP Sybase IQ/ASE, Mongodb, ProstgreSQL
 Data Warehousing experience, Snowflake is a plus
 Data Modelling and logical/physical database design is a plus
 Experience in Gitlab
