Business Overview:

The Surveillance IT team sits within Nomura's broader Technology division and plays a critical role in the firm's compliance management infrastructure. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated surveillance systems that monitor trading activities, communications, and market conduct across the organization.

Role Description / Responsibilities

Nomura are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Senior Business Analyst, who is ready to take the lead on strategic and BAU projects in the IT Surveillance domain.  The role would require working closely with business units to determine requirements, perform data and gap analysis on existing systems, and prioritize issues. The individual will have:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex technical requirements into business solutions
  • Conduct workshops, assessments, and strategic planning activities
  • Ability to handle communications and build relationships with technology teams and business users
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of producing project artefacts (business requirements, functional specifications, test scripts, testing)
  • Strong understanding of, or the ability to quickly gain such, of applicable laws, regulations, and guidance in the subject area as well as the desire to keep up with changes in a complex environment
  • Experience of AI / ML to improve business processes

 

Skills, experience and knowledge required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, or related field
  • Excellent understanding of the SDLC process
  • Delivery experience using Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Understanding of AML/Trade Surveillance/Control Room concepts
  • Proficient in SQL from a query perspective on a large database platform (eg MS-SQL, Oracle etc.)
  • Proficiency in AWS Cloud, basic Python programming skills, AI/ML
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence in communicating with and advising senior executives
  • Detail and quality oriented

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a business analyst in the financial industry

 

Tools experience (must have)

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT, Project Plan, Visio
  • MS-SQL / Oracle DB PL/SQL, AWS
  • JIRA, HP QC
  • Sharepoint, Autosys, etc

 

Nice to have

  • Technical experience of Actimize ActOne (case management system)
  • Reasonable understanding of financial products including Derivatives, Corporate Bonds, Converts, Loans, Swaps, Equities and their Trade Life Cycle
