Nomura Services India, (Powai) supports Nomura’s businesses around the world. Powai’ s world class capabilities in trading support, research, information technology, financial control, operations, risk management and legal support have played a key role in facilitating Nomura’s global operations and are an integral part of Nomura’s global expansion plans. The Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.
Divisional Overview:
Powai LCC broadly covers the areas of Legal, Compliance and Conduct, and is responsible for building a robust risk and control framework. The Powai LCC teams support Nomura Powai entities, as well as LCC teams globally to ensure effective risk management of Legal, Compliance and Conduct related risks for the firm. Powai Legal comprises of the Corporate Legal and Transaction Legal functions, which provide advice and support on corporate, employment and transactional matters. The Offshore Legal team supports global teams on corporate and secretarial matters, Global Markets, and Masters documentation related requirements. Powai Compliance comprises of functions such as Core Compliance, Trade Surveillance, Electronic Communication Surveillance, Financial Crime Monitoring, Control Room & Disclosure Monitoring and Employee Compliance. The teams provide advisory and operations support to global / regional Compliance teams driven by global / regional policies and regulatory expectations.
Business Unit Overview:
The Global Masters Documentation Team is an extension of the:
• London based Transaction Legal Team which covers our Europe, Middle East & Africa business;
• New York based Legal Documentation Team which covers our Americas business; and
• Asia based Transaction Legal Team which covers our Asia Ex Japan (“AEJ”) business.
• Japan based Transaction Legal Team
The core function of the team is to maintain and update a database and status tracking system for Derivative Master agreements, repurchase agreements, stock-lending agreements and other financial agreements.
The tracking of these agreements, from drafting through to execution, is of great importance, as is the ability to easily review the terms of the executed agreements. The information fed into the database and tracking system is used to monitor risk, collateral and other exposure by various departments within the firm.
The candidate will also be expected to analyse and provide information to the legal and business teams in response to queries relating to financial agreements, prepare reports and work on a variety of ad-hoc and regulatory projects

Role & Responsibilities:
- Work as a part of the Global Masters Documentation team with the stakeholders in regions and provide assistance to the regional team, which is part of Transaction Legal
- Updating critical terms of various master agreements (i.e. ISDA, CSA, Global Master Repurchase agreement and Global Master Securities Lending agreements) in the firm’s database
- Generating and distribution of various management reports
- Responding to queries received from the business and legal teams related to master agreements
- Analyzing and interpreting clauses of master agreements and advising other business teams
- Identifying areas of improvement and working on technology initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention
- Delegation of work within the team, assisting and supervising the work done by the team members, reviewing the work and also taking complete onus of the tasks
- Developing and maintaining a proactive relationship with the stakeholders in all regions
- Understanding roles, responsibilities, goals and processes to mitigate risks by ensuring that the team members are made aware about the changing business requirements, delegation of work, knowledge sharing sessions and to expertise on a particular process
- Review the constitutional documents of a counterparty to identify entity type, jurisdiction, capacity to trade and netting
- Drafting of notices to counterparty pursuant to mini-close out of a transaction in the repurchase / stock lending
