Role Purpose 

 

The role is to Programme Manage the Operations Client Service Group (CSG) transformation programmes, which are part of Nomura's Mission Critical Transformation Portfolio. 

 

The 2-year programme portfolio will deliver transformational improvements to client onboarding experience, workflow automation, operational efficiency, and critical audit and control enhancements across all of Nomura's operating regions (EMEA, Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Japan). The successful candidate will be accountable for delivery across multiple global projects, managing annual budgets of $2m+, leading a direct team of approximately 8 people primarily based in Mumbai with additional resources in UK and US, and working with Senior Leaders across corporate and wholesale divisions 

 

The role requires, cross-functional delivery experience and the ability to manage both programme-level coordination and direct project delivery. 

 

 

Key objectives critical to success 

 

  • Programme Manage the CSG transformation programmes to agreed timelines, scope, budget and quality 

  • Responsible for maintaining Scope and Business Outcomes with Accountable Executive and key stakeholders, validating that planned project outputs deliver these outcomes 

  • Manage Programme Governance including Internal Governance Forums and Steering Committees 

  • Drive delivery across the underlying projects, including direct management of individual projects within the programme portfolio 

  • Responsible for management of the Programme Delivery plan 

  • Management of a direct team of approximately 8 people, primarily based in Mumbai, with additional resources in UK 

  • Responsible for management of annual budgets of $2m+ and supporting the overall accountability of the Programme Accountable Executive 

  • Vendor management  

  • Work collaboratively, active problem solving and management of risks or issues that arise during delivery 

  • Proactively managing and addressing any project conflicts, dependencies, and scope changes 

  • Monitoring and providing an honest, transparent assessment of programme and project progress with timely reporting of status, issues, and risks to various management teams and governance forums as appropriate 

 

 

Required Experience & Skills 

 

Experience: 

 

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in managing complex, firm-wide Operations / Investment Banking transformation programmes and projects, which require coordination across multiple Operations, Businesses, Corporate functions, Technology and Vendor partners 

  • Proven track record of delivering programmes and projects across multiple geographies and business units 

  • Excellent understanding of client onboarding, KYC (Know Your Customer), and entity data management domains within financial services 

  • Strong understanding of onboarding and KYC business processes, workflows, controls, data mapping and lifecycle events 

  • Experience in managing Governance Forums and annual budgets of $2m+ 

  • Experience of vendor management and oversight 

  • Strong understanding of project financials, business case modelling, benefits management 

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risks across programme and projects 

  • Experience managing both programme-level coordination and direct project delivery, demonstrating the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels 

 

Team Management: 

  • Proven ability to manage high-performing teams across multiple regions beyond Powai, demonstrating cross-cultural communication skills while establishing consistent global standards and effective governance structures 

  • Strong leadership skills, be a mentor to the team and constantly evaluate opportunities of learning/upskilling 

 

Stakeholder Management / Engagement: 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills with the ability to build effective partnerships across Operations, Credit, Legal, Sales, and Banking departments 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders within a complex, global and matrix organization structure, including engagement with senior management (MD level and above) 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and functions to achieve programme objectives 

  • Track record of building and maintaining productive working relationships with stakeholders at various levels 

  • Ability to present information clearly and facilitate decision-making through effective communication.
