Business Overview
Global Markets (GM) Powai team is an extension of regional Global Markets (Front Office) teams supporting Equities, Structured Products, Rates, FX, and Credit. The division in Powai provides support for a range of activities like research, quantitative modelling, sales and trading support, pricing and balancing, product development and strategy. Powai is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.
The Business Management/COO team in Powai is a key Business Unit within the GM division. It houses several extended teams for various regional functions acting as enablers for the FO team such as AEJ, EMEA & US GM Business Management, Client Account Management and Strategy (CAMS), GM Control Office (GMCO) and Senior Relationship Management (SRM).
This role is within the Business Management team (GM COO). The Business Managers play a strategic role in delivering the Global Markets business agenda. They work extensively with Front Office Business Heads to drive strategy, execute business plans and run the floor. They are the face of business for various Corporate Functions and are responsible for implementing the business agenda/policies.

Role & Responsibilities
- We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our fast-paced GM Business Management team, based in Powai, Mumbai, who will collaborate closely with the Global Rates COO/Business Management team.
- The individual will be joining an existing team of Business Managers based in Powai and work very closely with Business Managers based in Powai as well as in the region.
- The individual will assume day-to-day responsibilities contributing towards business management, performance monitoring and managing processes which support Global Rates business with specific focus on expense management and resources allocation
- The role would require working with various functions in the GM space – Front Office and corporate.
- Key Responsibilities
- Drive Expenses, Balance sheet and Funding optimization initiatives globally

- Lead/ facilitate monthly expense reviews with Finance teams, analyzing trends, identifying deviations, and investigating underlying drivers
- Operate as the subject matter expert (SME) on Global Rates expenses, developing deep understanding of different line items, cost structures, and expense categories across the business
- Review and challenge cost allocation methodologies across various products, ensuring products receive appropriate and accurate expense allocations while questioning inconsistencies
- Facilitate and run regular cross-functional forums with COOs, Finance, Technology, and other stakeholders to drive expense transparency, alignment, and decision-making
- Monitor and analyze financial resource utilization including balance sheet consumption and risk weighted assets, identifying key drivers and trends to optimize capital efficiency
- Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to provide insights and recommendations on resource allocation strategies
- Develop reporting frameworks and dashboards to track expense performance, allocation accuracy, and financial resource metrics, enabling data-driven business decisions
- Prepare periodic business summaries covering financial metrics/ returns scorecards as well as commentary for Senior Management
