Divisional Overview:
Global Middle Office (GMO) is a control function focussed on the integrity of key transactional, risk and financial data and reporting. GMO will also perform an Advisory role partnering with the business and management to help deliver the firm-wide strategy. To achieve this GMO will leverage the latest Digital Innovation & Automation (DI&A) opportunities to optimize GMO’s efficiency and operating model.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Data Management:
Providing a complete and validated data set of transactional information, efficiencies in the production and proactive management of these data sets
• Control:
Provide assurance on accuracy of firms financial statements through daily PL validation, Risk Model inputs, Proactive management of internal inventory and collateral obligations to ensure key liquidity / collateral requirements are optimized
• Advisory:
Provide business support and oversight on new products/transactions, financial resources, liquidity management and trade bookings. Propose and implement FTB process improvements; institute performance analytics; and help navigate regulatory, industry and account changes
The Equity Middle Office team based in Powai is continuously and actively engaged in supporting Nomura's Equity business spread across EMEA, Americas, Asia and Oceania regions. Equity Operations supports the entire gamut of Equities product franchise offered by Nomura to its clients. The Equity MO plays a pivotal role between Clients and Front Offices on one side and Nomura's in house teams and divisions ranging from Information Technology, Core Operations, Corporate Actions, Client Service Representatives, Transition Management Group, Client Margins, Data Management and Operations Control on the other.
Business Unit Overview:
Prime Middle Office forms part of Equity Middle Office. Prime manages equity products directly or indirectly pertaining to clients who are deemed Prime by Nomura. The Prime Middle Office covers swap business, stock loan borrowing & lending and prime brokerage business across EMEA, AEJ and Japan. The process involves communicating with clients, traders and sales team. The MO team is responsible for the various trade and position reconciliations to ensure all positions in the Front office are in line with the Middle Office systems. This position is required to liaise mainly with other Middle offices, IT, legal, settlements, corporate action teams, risk and any other teams necessary.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Prime Middle Office team is a client service centric process. Hence it requires lots of interaction with clients, Salespersons, Desk Assistants, and other various team involved in downstream Processing.
Effectively manage all risks and exposures associated with the various trading activities across the books and ensure all exceptions have been closed out in a timely manner.
Risk Management between Front End & Middle Office system
This position requires liaising with respective regional Trader’s, desk assistants, Salespersons & other regional middle office teams. The individual needs to work very closely with the desks and ensure all checks are completed with 100% accuracy, within the timelines mentioned in SLA.
Requires strong attention to details, should have very good understanding on Equity Derivatives
- Monitoring & resolving inter-system trade exceptions
- Client query management
- Inter-system and inter entity reconciliations
- Monitoring and tracking KRI/MIS, reporting.
- Resolving issues raised by various teams
Qualification, Experience & Skills:
- Should be able to work independently and manage tight deadlines, should possess excellent communication skills and familiarity with financial abbreviations and basic functioning of Fixed Income market.
- Should be Enthusiastic / High energy / should be able to suggest solutions.
Mandatory Skill Set:
- Required Subject matter expertise on multiple markets. Proven track record of having successfully managed different processes/ multiple teams
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory requirements Time management and prioritization skills. Accurate work in a pressurized environment. Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of the trade life cycle Desired Quality/Process improvement/Change management experience.
