Divisional Overview:

Global Middle Office (GMO) is a control function focused on the integrity of key transactional, risk and financial data and reporting. GMO will also perform an Advisory role partnering with the business and management to help deliver the firm-wide strategy. To achieve this GMO will leverage the latest Digital Innovation & Automation (DI&A) opportunities to optimize GMO’s efficiency and operating model. Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Data Management: 

Providing a complete and validated data set of transactional information, efficiencies in the production and proactive management of these data sets 

  • Control: 

Provide assurance on accuracy of firms financial statements through daily PL validation, Risk Model inputs, Proactive management of internal inventory and collateral obligations to ensure key liquidity / collateral requirements are optimized 

  • Advisory: 

Provide business support and oversight on new products/transactions, financial resources, liquidity management and trade bookings. Propose and implement FTB process improvements; institute performance analytics; and help navigate regulatory, industry and account changes

 

Business Overview:

The Middle Office role involves the team to provide operational support to the Front Office globally, it involves functions like Trade validation, trade confirmation, management information and reporting, reconciliations, gateway management, lifecycle management, regulatory monitoring and much more. It also involves liaising with different stakeholders globally within and outside the Finance division.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Execution and management of lifecycle events – Monitoring the bookings and its authentication in MO system for numerous events like coupon, Rate Resets, expiry along with early termination, credit events, novation’s etc.
  • Liaising with different teams like regional desk assistant, settlement, product control etc. daily for any outstanding queries resolution.  Monitoring vanilla option unwinds and expiries.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks – Work closely with Front and Back Office to resolve breaks (e.g. Cash, Positions, etc.)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of front to back trade flows as well as Risk and P&L.
  • Investigation and resolution of position and trade exceptions through daily reconciliations.
  • Verification and production of various regulatory reports.
  • Contribute to new business or process change initiatives through collaboration with the team manager. Help drive best practice and perform UAT to ensure a successful rollout of any initiatives.
  • Be able to contribute toward automation and streamlining of any functions within the MO team.
  • Build a strong network across multiple departments within the firm such as Trading, Operations, Compliance, Audit, Technology, and other areas of Finance.
  • Maintain oversight of offshore tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of team responsibilities. This will involve continuous review of KRI’s and EOD summaries.
  • Drive the Risk agenda for the team. Proactively identify and remediate control gaps.
  • Governance of daily BAU along with managing escalations and liaising with global stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of Investment banking products and trading activities especially on the Cash Bonds and Fixed Income OTC Derivatives. (required)
