Business Unit Overview

Global Middle Office Transformation (GMOT) is part of the Finance Wholesale Division at Nomura which is a central function providing the capability to shape, drive and deliver the global Finance Strategy and a single point of interfacing for other corporate initiatives

We are seeking an experienced MACRO VBA Senior Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and strong analytical skills. This role involves developing complex macros, automating processes, and providing data-driven insights to support business decisions.

Position Specifications:

Experience	3-5 Years in VBA primary skills and knowledge of SharePoint development along with Alteryx, Python, Power BI will be added advantage
Qualification	Bachelor’s Degree preferable in Computers / MBA in Finance
IT Qualification	VBA + SharePoint (preferable) along with Alteryx / Python / Power BI

Role & Responsibilities:

Strong MS Excel, MS Access and VBA skills, experience in building Macros is a must
Develop and maintain complex Excel macros and VBA scripts to automate business processes and improve efficiency.
Design and implement sophisticated data models and dashboards using Excel and other BI tools.
Analyze large datasets and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and automation.
Troubleshoot and debug existing macros and VBA code to ensure optimal performance.
Create comprehensive documentation for all macros and VBA projects.
Provide training and support to team members on Excel and VBA best practices.
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Excel, VBA, and data analysis techniques.
Work with front office systems for integration with python API’s
Hands on coding in python is a must , should be expert in using python libraries
Work on data extraction from emails , pdf’s , scanned pdf’s(OCR) and office documents as needed , regex for rule based extraction
Take complete ownership of VBA and participate in the full project life cycle including technical analysis, design, data analysis and mapping, development and testing.
Ensure adherence to functional architecture strategy and compliance to company development standards.
Prepare technical specifications and documentation for Alteryx workflows supporting BI reports
Write Complex SQL queries on multiple tables using complex joins
Perform end to end Data validation
Ability to interact with business users and understand their requirements
Communicate complex topics to team through both written and oral communications
Ensure data is stored effectively and provide the ability to maintain the data analytics platform, so that data can effectively be mined for information at a later date
Conduct unit tests and develop database queries to analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues that arise
Evaluate and improve existing systems that are in place as well as collaborating with teams within the business to integrate these new systems to streamline workflows
Develop and update technical documentation for senior leaders and colleagues to serve as a reference guide
Turn around requirements in a quick and timely manner and be comfortable with the fast paced and evolving tech ecosystem

Technical

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on Excel macro and VBA development.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data modeling.
Expert-level knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
