Divisional Overview:

Powai Finance is an integral part of the CFO division and plays a key role in various Finance functions ranging from Treasury, Global Middle Office, Financial Control & Regulatory Reporting, Global Infrastructure, Cost Analytics and MI. Located strategically to cater to multiple time zones, Powai Finance ensures internal and regulatory deliverables across all regions are supported.

 

Business Overview:

CMA team in Mumbai is an extension of the Global CMA team providing Analytical and Quantitative Support to the onshore teams. Team caters to Monthly book closure as well as MIS requirements of senior management across Nomura Group (Retail, Wholesale, Corporate divisions) and regions (Japan, AeJ, EMEA and US). Team is responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting of Revenues, Expenses and other financial resources.

Within CMA, Cost Control team caters to month end close and MIS requirements and provides Cost analytics to senior management of Nomura Group division across all regions. The team is comprised of dedicated regional groups based in Powai supporting Global stakeholders in Europe, Asia-Ex, Japan and US.

Role & Responsibilities:

 

 

 

  • Act as a Regional Support role for all Accounting processes managed by Compensation team at Cost Management & Analytics
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results to the senior management and key stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain appropriate documentation/controls to ensure the integrity of financial, regulatory and management information.
  • Ensure that controls are embedded in the process and effectively observed by the team for the various Compensation portfolios and that they are as per the defined procedures (RIF, Insurance,  Pension, Equity compensation, annual bonus, Budget and Forecast)
  • Ensures and implement processes are aligned with the global standards
  • Approve Adjustments and ensure effective reconciliation between RIF, Pension, Equity compensation and annual bonus.
  • To be able to effectively discuss the process changes with HR / Regional PE controllers, communicate and implement the changes
  • Review MoM variance analysis on compensation lines insight to segment controllers
  • Ensure that the Risk and Control framework in Nomura is fully implemented for this process
  • Ensure that immediate supervisor is informed of issues and risks (potential or inherent) involving the process/tasks assigned to him/her with the proposed action plan for the resolution Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures where necessary
  • Ensure compliance for internal and external audits for the compensation related items.
  • Accountable for timely management and ownership of Monthly, Quarterly and Annual closing activities
  • Responsible for meeting the defined KPI and communicate the same with stakeholders
  • Attend meeting with Regional and Global teams and conducting monthly review call with stakeholders
  • Help and contribute to continuous process improvement drives through Bright Ideas keeping in mind the Lean initiatives in-place
  • End to End responsibilities for Accounting and reporting of Compensation lines for EMEA / APAC region          
  • Stakeholder management and escalation of issues
  • Reviews general ledger/sub ledgers on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting
  • Manage headcount upload and reporting
  • Apply subject matter expertise to identify, develop, and implement new techniques for process improvement
