Department Overview

Business Finance & Control (BFC) includes Product Control, IPV, and Structured Deal Review. BFC works closely with the Wholesale division supporting the business and responsible for the production and independent validation of profit & loss and balance sheet. BFC provides management with valuable insight into the Wholesale trading performance and key financial information

BFC services it’s key stakeholders on business, regulatory and firm wide initiatives by providing constructive challenge, implementation support and by developing meaningful data analytics

India BFC’s vision is to create a digitally equipped workforce to deliver Process Excellence & Optimization by enhancing the Operating Model to turn Nomura Services India Finance into a “Knowledge Centre”

The candidate will act as the lead for EMEA Equities Product Control team ~6 FTE.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction & Leadership: Drive strategic planning and execution for the team, ensuring alignment with global functional and firm-wide objectives. and establishing appropriate operating models and management structure to support stakeholder in regions.
  • P&L Management: Manage and oversee daily P&L Production and analysis activities across all EMEA Equity Derivatives trading desk. Ensure accurate mark-to-market on a daily basis and lead month-end, quarter-end close processes for all trading desk. Perform daily validation and review of Trading and Attributed P&L (Greek P&L Explains) to ensure accurate reporting. Understand the businesses supported including the strategy, products and inherent risks. Understand the risk, reporting systems and contribute to enhancing control environment. Other P&L tasks and requests as required. Contribute to BFC PC projects, process enhancements, testing’s etc.      
  • Governance & Control: Provide senior oversight, ensuring adherence to global policies and standards, regulatory compliance, and implementation of effective controls to mitigate operational, reputational, and financial risks
  • Organizational Development: Lead talent management initiatives including succession planning, career development, and employee engagement. Drive collaboration between India and EMEA Equity Derivative teams while managing organizational transformation and growth initiatives
  • Global Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as senior PC representative and primary liaison with EMEA BFC Lead.  
  • Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Drive operational excellence and deliver efficiency through process reengineering, cost optimization, and technology adoption while maintaining service quality standards

 

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate degree in accounting, economics, mathematics, or related quantitative field. Advanced professional qualifications (CFA, CPA, CIMA, ACA) or MBA/Master's degree strongly preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 10+ years of leadership experience in Product Control, with demonstrated expertise in Equities Asset Class
  • Leadership Excellence: Proven track record and demonstrated success in managing diverse teams, driving organizational change, and delivering strategic initiatives
  • Executive Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence and engage with global senior stakeholders
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong business acumen with ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic business recommendations and drive consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Office skills with expertise in financial modeling and data visualization. Experience with advanced analytics tools (Python, R, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL) and familiarity with emerging technologies (AI/ML, RPA) highly valued
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and critical thinking capabilities with proven ability to navigate complex, ambiguous situations and drive resolution of enterprise-level challenges
