Division Overview

 

The Operations division provides the support and control infrastructure that enables the Firm to develop and deliver financial products throughout the world. Working with the Sales, Trading and Information Technology Divisions, Operations professionals are responsible for the management and execution of transactions in a manner which maximizes profitability and minimizes risk. Our division is responsible for the management and execution of millions of transactions on a daily basis. Our responsibilities include trade processing, confirmation, settlement, fails management, margin, asset servicing, risk management, reference data management and various other client services. In partnership with sales, trading, prime services, information technology and other teams from across the bank, we apply a continual focus on improving productivity and efficiency, while seeking new and innovative ways to support our clients' changing needs.

 

 

Business Unit Overview

 

The Regulatory Reporting team is primarily responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with all relevant regulations and requirements set forth by governing bodies or regulatory agencies. This includes monitoring the daily reporting of trades and events across all major jurisdictions and managing changes in regulations to ensure ongoing compliance (i.e. rewrites, refits, upstream changes, etc.). This unit coordinates with various departments within the organization to gather necessary information and data for reporting purposes. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing any potential compliance issues or risks. Powai Regulatory Reporting unit is a central hub for managing cross-jurisdictional exceptions, remediation, testing, quality assurance and reporting management information.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Head of the Regulatory Reporting Team based in Powai that provides support to the teams across other global jurisdictions
  • This role will report into the global head of regulatory reporting who is based in London. The role will also have a local dotted line into the Powai Head of Risk and Control.
  • This role is part of the global regulatory reporting management team.
  • Responsible for the overall management and service delivery of all aspects of regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory reporting to relevant jurisdictions
  • Participate in Interpreting and implementation of regulatory requirements, staying updated on changes in regulations affecting the organization
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary data and ensure data quality for reporting purposes
  • Conduct periodic reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to regulatory reporting processes and controls
  • Support responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies and providing requested information
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of reporting systems to meet evolving regulatory requirements
  • Analyze and interpret financial data to support regulatory reporting requirements
  • Assist in coordination of internal and external audits related to regulatory reporting
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and proactively identify areas for process improvement within the regulatory reporting function
  • Encourage transparency within the onshore and offshore teams in highlighting and escalating gaps / issues / outliers.
  • Able to attract, train and retain talent in the team and work proactively on developing individuals within the team to take additional responsibilities
  • Able to provide proper guidance to the team on required standard and ensure delivery of quality review without major defects.
  • Understand and clearly document work drivers for the regulatory reporting function and use the map and measure process to drive productivity

 

 

Requirements

 

Technical Skills/ Competencies/ Governance, Risk and Controls/ Stakeholder Management

 

  • Mature professional with strong background in managing large teams within a global set up

  • Ability to build an operational strategy aimed at managing the offshore platform in line with global functional goals and local entity objectives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting rules across multiple major jurisdictions like CFTC, SEC, MifiD, EMIR, HKTR, MAS etc. highly desirable.
  • Proven 12-15 years’ experience in regulatory reporting within financial services industry
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge and experience of appropriate control frameworks for regulatory reporting is an advantage.
