Department Overview

The Chief Data Office (CDO) serves as a critical second line of defence function, providing independent oversight and governance for the organization's data, artificial intelligence, and cloud initiatives. Operating through established frameworks and policies, the CDO ensures the responsible management of data assets, AI systems, and cloud infrastructure while maintaining alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards. The office develops and enforces governance controls, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance mechanisms across these domains, working closely with first-line business units to evaluate and monitor their adherence to established standards. The office also plays a crucial role in setting organizational standards for data management, AI development, and cloud adoption, while providing independent validation of compliance with these standards and reporting to senior management and relevant governance committees on the effectiveness of control frameworks and emerging risks.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a Cloud & AI Technology Governance Associate to help develop, implement, and maintain our organization's technology governance framework. This role will focus on cloud and AI implementation governance and IT security controls, with opportunities to develop deeper expertise in emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting technology risk assessments and impact analyses for new cloud and AI initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate cloud and AI infrastructure and IT systems for compliance with Data security requirements and internal policies
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of Cloud and AI governance policies, procedures, and controls
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review technology documentation and governance artifacts
  • Help maintain the technology asset inventory and risk taxonomy
  • Support the preparation of Cloud and AI governance metrics and reporting
  • Develop or assist in developing the functional and technical requirements based on CDOs business needs to digitize the Cloud & AI Governance processes
  • Participate in governance committee meetings and help track action items
  • Contribute to technology governance training and awareness programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Business, Risk Management, or related field
  • 5 plus years of relevant experience in technology risk, compliance, or governance roles
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and common use cases
  • Knowledge of AI ethics and responsible AI principles
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Professional certifications in risk management or governance
  • Experience with AI/ML development or implementation
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to AI
  • Understanding of model risk management principles
  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools
