Function Overview
The Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a key role in defining and implementing the firm's data strategy and is responsible for defining and overseeing effective Data, Cloud and AI governance for Nomura to enable data-driven regulatory compliance, data risk mitigation and improved data usability for analytics and AI. It is the central authority overseeing the Business and Corporate functions in complying with data, Cloud and AI governance requirements.
Role Purpose
The Chief Data Office (CDO) is organized into multiple workstreams, and Data Governance/Quality is one among them. The Data Quality Analyst will take the responsibility for managing the overall Data Governance and Data Quality Framework to ensure compliance with all regulatory and business requirements. The role holder will have a deep understanding of data quality and be able to act as a central authority. The role holder will be confident in articulating to the business the importance of data quality and actively support ongoing adherence. The role holder will participate in ongoing developments of Data Quality standards, processes and successfully help in establishing the process for Data Quality to be monitored, reviewed, and continuously improved.
Role Description and Responsibilities
- Administer, register, and manage the DQ Rule registry in the Enterprise Rule Cataloguing Tool.
- Ensures the Data Quality rules consistently reflects enterprise data quality standards and satisfies business requirements.
- Work with Data Steward/Owners, Custodians to establish and enforce data quality metrics, monitoring and improvement processes.
- Perform DSLA (Data Governance Artefact) – Data Quality content review and work with Data Stewards/Custodians to fix any content issues.
- Perform ongoing monitoring of DSLA (Data Service Level Agreements) and report DSLA breaches to business functions/ CDO Management
- Respond to user inquiries on Enterprise Rule Catalog/Issue Management tools and assist business users in adopting these tools/processes.
- Prepare DQ (Issues and Exceptions) MI and dashboards either manually or through the tools available.
- Prepare project tracking reports in MS Power Points, Excel, and other tools and present the updates to internal/external stakeholders.
Qualification & Core Skills requirement:
- Ability to co-ordinate high volumes of Data Quality exceptions and perform analysis for DQ monitoring, reporting.
- Proven experience in performing analysis on Data Quality exceptions and the ability to translate/correlate the exceptions into actionable insights for business users.
- Ability to understand and correlate DQ exceptions and DQ issues.
- Strong analytical skills to identify, quantify and effectively raise business risks associated with Data Quality/Issues
- Proven experience working in Financial Industry, preferably in Investment Banking Chief Data Office
- Proven experience working in SQL and fetching large number of data/exceptions from the Data Governance tools.
- Basic understanding of Service Now Workflow tool, Python
- An understanding of lineage - how the data is produced managed and consumed within the business processes and systems.
- Ability to monitor the project progress against the plan, report changes in scope and well versed with Agile methodologies.
