The CTO function oversees group-wide transformation on strategically important, mission critical projects for the firm. We’re aligned to our key businesses across the group and operate to global standards and governance across our programs. Role description

 

  • The Wholesale Front Office Change team leads and drives strategic initiatives and transformation programs across the CTO function to support Nomura's business strategy and deliver consistent group-wide services.
  • The role is aligned to the Trade NPE initiative which is a strategic priority for the Global Markets Business to reduce and control Trade NPE.

 

Project Objectives

 

  • Develop Trade NPE governance framework for Markets which includes representatives from Markets business leadership & key support functions.
  • Unlock meaningful savings opportunities through multiprong strategy – including negotiations, demand management & improved controls.
  • Implement initiatives that rationalize business activities, create cost management function & deliver meaningful savings / improve business profitability
  • Challenge organization through use of business KPIs and rigorous review process/cycle.
  • Provide project management structure around enhancing system data and projects to design new controls & increase business management reporting.

 

Scope:

 

  • Work in conjunction with TNPE Team, Finance and Digital Office to roll out a strategy for the implementation of a reconciliation and payment control function for TNPE spend, which will also be utilised for accruals at a trading book level
  • Communicate implementation progress to TNPE lead and senior management, adhering to CTO project management standards
  • Collate Trade NPE vendor agreements and commercials analyse against Nomura’s trading activity to develop reconciliation logic to feed into a calculation engine to automate controls
  • Assist TNPE team with technical assistance such as documenting current workflows, troubleshooting Nomura system inefficiencies and working with vendors to understand their data offering
  • Highlight areas of inefficiency through data analysis, and look to drive awareness of these items to senior management
  • Create a robust suite of MI that can be accessed by stakeholders together with KPI/KRI indicators and exception reporting
  • Design workflows for alerting trading desks when they hit a cost milestone in a trading period that would influence their trading decisions

 

Experience Required

 

  • Experience of working in a global bank with exposure to order management, execution channels, operational workflows and financial accounting
  • BA mindset with experience in documenting change requirements, and driving the changes through to production environments working with multiple stakeholders
  • Good understanding of Rates, FX and Equity products across global jurisdictions
  • Ability to work independently and integrate into the wider TNPE team dynamic
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to dictate the strategy and lead product development
  • Ability to challenge the current state, and work collaboratively with other Nomura project teams
  • Each day is different, so ability to be able to multi-task essential
  • Knowledge of vendor charging mechanisms and rate cards desirable
