Department overview:
Nomura’s Investment Banking Division provides a vast array of advisory and capital-raising solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments and public-sector organizations around the world. Our global teams act as geographic, product and industry specialists.
Our Secondary Advisory team specializes in advising financial sponsors and their investors on various types of transactions, including GP-led and LP-led secondary processes, co-investments, sponsor solutions and corporate spin-outs of captive investment platforms. The team has a strong focus on the fast-growing area of Infrastructure secondaries which aligns closely with Nomura’s broader investment banking strengths in Greentech sectors. The team has also completed and/or is currently executing secondary transactions across buyout and venture, and is expanding into the private credit space as well. This Vice President role offers a unique opportunity to join a growing team with a global coverage universe, working on a range of high-profile transactions and being part of a dynamic and expanding team with a global remit.
Role description
Key objectives critical to success:
• Lead the execution of various secondary and other private capital transactions
• Play a key role in informing the strategic direction of the growing business by identifying areas of growth
• Actively contribute to the ongoing origination efforts by cultivating own client relationships to drive new business
• Day to day leadership in pitch creation, structuring, modelling of transactions
• Develop and maintain a relevant and active network of secondary investors / LPs
• Monitor industry trends and developments in the secondary market, particularly in infrastructure and private credit
• Train and develop junior bankers; participate in recruiting and talent management initiatives
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
• Experience of working at an investment bank, boutique advisory firm, placement agent or within private equity / investor relations
• Desire to learn and contribute to originating and executing high profile secondary advisory mandates
• Ability to think and act strategically in the context of a growing advisory business
• Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely
• Ability to develop and nurture relationships with LPs and secondary investors
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under tight deadlines
• Strong team orientation with the ability to work effectively with others in multiple groups or regions
• Distinctive academic record: consistently highly rated versus their peer group
