Role Overview:

As a Linux System Engineer you will provide support for all on-prem and cloud Linux servers across North America, Europe and Asia. You will be part of a global Infrastructure Technology team, working on large transformation projects as well as BAU support.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Systems Support of Electronic Trading Infrastructure running on Linux RedHat platform.
  • Full life cycle management of Linux Systems Infrastructure, including systems deployment, routine maintenance and patching and systems decommissioning.
  • Support audit and remediation actions to comply with IT Governance policies and procedures.
  • Actively look for opportunities to improve systems security, stability and performance, as well as internal processes and workflows.
  • Maintain up to date documentation. 
  • Investigate outages, document and communicate to the stakeholders Root Cause Analysis.
  • Use Jira to coordinate department activities and be able to develop dashboards and reports that measure success.
  • Participate in on-call follow-the-sun rotation. This includes some after-hours and weekend work.
  • Use Ansible for configuration management and uniform systems deployment.
  • Understand and apply the philosophy of managing Infrastructure as a Code and Configuration as a Code.
  • Work closely with InfoSec team to ensure system and network security.

 

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • Must have strong Linux administration skills, including system and network security, performance monitoring and tuning. Configuration and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Must have strong knowledge of RedHat AAP or AWX.
  • Previous experience with Satellite6 administration.

 

  • Excellent knowledge of:
  • Provisioning templates, Host groups & Subnets
  • Managing Satellite with Ansible

 

  • Excellent experience with Ansible for Idempotent system configuration management. 
  • Must have excellent Bash Shell Scripting experience plus Python.
  • Fundamental knowledge of using git. Experience with Gitlab pipelines is a plus.
  • Experience with Systems Monitoring using Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and Prometheus. 
  • Knowledge of x86 server hardware, hands-on experience with HPE including OneView, Dell and ICC are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, multicast, etc.
  • Experience with Network Load Balancers (F5 or similar).
  • Experience with SAN, NAS and Enterprise Backup technologies is a plus.
