Department Overview:
The Nomura Asset Management (NAM) Fixed Income team consists of fixed income investment management, money market funds and credit research. Our clients are both retail and institutional. Japanese investors are the major clients while non-Japanese clients are growing fast. Credit funds are one of the fastest growing products of the team. The credit research team is based in London and Tokyo, and currently consists of five analysts, covering mainly North American and European companies. Analysts also co-work with portfolio managers and other credit analysts across the Global NAM offices.
The NAM UK Global Equity team manages a range of mainly developed market Global Equity portfolios on behalf of retail & institutional clients to a total of around $7bn assets under management. The process is highly team-oriented, and Research Analyst recommendations have significant impact on portfolio decisions. ESG analysis is integrated into the investment process of our NAM UK Global Equity team and a significant amount of asset under management is in ESG/Sustainability strategies (SFDR 9 & 8).
Role Description:
The candidate will support investment, analysis and team workflow processes both for the Global Equity and Global Fixed Income team; as described below; which somewhat vary by key department needs and frequency.
The role will support the NAM UK Global Fixed Income team, with role responsibilities including:
- Cash & Liquidity Management: Support daily cash operations including reconciliation to assist the PMs, morning reporting, and daily cash monitoring to ensure efficient liquidity management
- Trade Operations & Portfolio Support mainly for Money Market Funds (‘MMF’): Execute trade processing, operational validation, portfolio construction to assist the PMs
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly and annual reports for MMF products etc. Deliver insights and performance analytics to stakeholders
- Stakeholder Communication: Develop materials for internal meetings and Create presentation materials for external clients to assist the PMs
- Process Improvement & Documentation: Drive enhancement of procedures and workflows, Maintain up-to-date documentation
The role will support the NAM UK Global Equity team via a number of tasks around our Investment process and Fund reporting and marketing schedule. Role responsibilities include:
- Coordinating our Global Stock Committee meeting, scheduling and tracking/documentation and communication as well as interface with other Committees
- Tracking team Statistics on AuM, Team information/CV data
- Assist in tracking, drafting and distribution of regular Fund performance reports to Sales/CPMs/Marketing
- Assist in preparation of Fund RfPs, Fund-specific and topical marketing presentations and support our ESG/Reporting cycle / publications
- Preparing specific analysis for Portfolio Managers as required to understand performance drivers, portfolio impact etc
- Assist in understanding portfolio/risk characteristics, interfacing w performance and risk team
- Attend stock analysis / portfolio review meetings and assist with follow-ups
- Ideally be an expert in modernising our team’s workflow, DCF modelling and analysis by identifying and applying suitable robust AI tools
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
Essential
- Data analysis (Excel, database, etc.) experience, ideally from previous work within a Financial Services setting
- Project management: self-organization and experience in delivering agreed processes in time and to a high degree of accuracy
- Strong attention to detail - accuracy and diligence
- Communication skills - experience in communicating and managing specific deliverables from and to multiple stakeholders
- Interest in a career in the investment management area.
Preferred
- Existing work experience within Investment Management
- Preferably education to BA level or higher; with preference for financial or scientific degrees
- IMC or CFA qualification advantageous; otherwise company will support acquiring such qualification
- Accounting, Financial market or similar qualifications
- Some familiarity with coding / programming languages
