Role description
This is a key role that will be pivotal in the build out of the GCIO Chief Controls Office at Nomura. Working to the Head of CCO Governance, MI and Business Management, this role will support – and as required lead – the build out of the CCO Governance and MI capability. The role is part of a global team that will formalize, standardize and globalize Risk management governance and MI across CCO. The role will both support and contribute to the design and implementation of a strategy, and as needed will also support ‘business as useful’ monthly risk management governance and MI activity – such as support key forums and decision making committees. The role will delegate on occasion for the Head of CCO Governance, MI and Business Management and will help coordinate global team activity.
We are looking for a candidate seeking a challenging role, who is able to operate at pace, use initiative and has an excellent eye for detail. The candidate must understand the complexities and differences between Risk Management, Executive and Board governance – and how the 3 operate and interact. We also need someone who can support the requirements capture and design of Risk Management MI, and can support establishing a process that puts those designs into production. An understanding of risk management practices, information and escalation flows is therefore also very important.
The successful candidate will play a key role within Chief Controls Office team and wider GCIO. They will need to establish themselves quickly and leverage strong design and delivery skills to support team outputs. The candidate will also need to quickly develop and then maintain productive working relationships across GCIO and 3LoD key stakeholders.
Key roles responsibilities:
- Support - and as required lead - on the design, build out and management of the GCIO CCO Risk Management Governance and MI capability.
- Support delivery and continued improvement of CCO Governance and MI key ‘business as usual’ outputs; such as supporting the Group CIO Risk Management Committee monthly and GCIO LT Controls meetings – process, agenda content and supporting MI
- Support the design and definition of CCO Governance and MI target endstate - and transition states - in line with wider CCO strategy. This role will then help oversee day-to-day the delivery of the agreed strategy
- Support the design of a standardized GCIO Control Book (in target state), and the process to ensure streamlined automated production that meets stakeholders needs to support their risk management.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
We need a candidate who:
- Has a good understanding of control frameworks, risk management governance and management information in a financial services context.
- Combines governance and MI skillsets with a technical understanding relevant to the GCIO risk management agenda - such as Information Technology (IT), Information Security (IS), and/ or Data Management
- Takes a flexible – albeit data-led approach - to help shape strategic direction, and who responds positively to feedback, internal and external circumstances.
- Promotes a culture in which the decision making needs and perspectives of a wide range of stakeholders are at the forefront of our deliverables.
- Acts as a catalyst for change and inspires confidence in the team and wider stakeholders with the quality and conviction of their work and knowledge.
- Can contribute to a culture that strives to continually improve business processes that impact positively on the business.
- Understand Management Information; its design, visualization, production processes and data requirements
- Understands technology – familiarity with cyber security, resilience and related domains preferred.
- Has experience managing stakeholders across the Three Lines of Defence.
- Has effective communication skills with strong attention to detail.
