Capital Commitments Team
The Capital Commitments (CC) Team sits within the private side of Global Markets (GM) working with counterparts in the Investment Banking Division. The CC team is responsible for:

executing Nomura’s Private Credit strategy which is to provide debt financing to private businesses (EBITDA typically €5m-€50m) in the UK and mainland Europe for both financial sponsor and non-financial sponsor backed owners.

underwriting large commitments for broadly syndicated loans for the Acquisition & Leveraged Finance (ALF) business. The team portfolio manages a large book of relationship-driven revolving credit facilities business alongside other funded credit facilities.
We have a solutions-driven approach and seek to provide debt solutions that fit our clients’ needs. Structures are typically revolving credit facilities, senior secured debt, unitranches and subordinated debt with the ability to provide underwrites and/or bridge structures.
Role and Responsibilities

The role is based in London

The core focus will be on underwriting and execution of new direct lending opportunities in the middle market segment and the larger ALF sector

The candidate will also be responsible for ongoing credit monitoring of existing portfolio companies through building and updating financial models, preparing results summaries, and identifying potential credit red flags.
Skills and Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Law or Engineering
-
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in direct lending and/or leveraged finance within buy side funds/portfolios, investment banking, credit risk management [or a rating agency]

Strong fundamental credit skills, commercial acumen and execution capability are important.

“Must-have” skills include credit and financial analysis, cash-flow modelling and sensitivity analysis and legal documentation review. Strong written and oral advocacy skills are also essential

Fluency in written and spoken English; European language skills are a plus with preferences for French, Spanish [and German]

Self-starter, able to work independently, with strong professional motivation.

Positive attitude / likes to work collaboratively within a small-team environment

High level of attention to detail.
