Department overview

Nomura is looking for a strong technologist to join the Group Platform Services and Engineering team. This team is responsible for enhancing the developer experience, uplifting cyber resilience by transforming out access management technology and rolling out best in class platforms and services across all Nomura group companies.

 

Role description:

Working within the Group Platform Services and Engineering team, performing development, engineering, and support solutions. Areas of responsibility will include the development and support of our Toolchain & Core services framework (Java, Python, Shell Scripts, MySQL, PostgreSQL).

As part of a global team, it will be expected to work with peers in other regions and operators offshore.

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or proven equivalent experience.


Preferred experience:

  • Previous experience in a Production Services/Production Support role.
  • Experience deploying in production (Change Management, Incident Management, etc.)
  • Engineering experience or an engineering mind-set would be highly desirable.


Preferred Development & Environment Tools Experience:

  • Python
  • Java
  • Linux OS
  • Source code control platforms (e.g. Git)
  • Ansible


Other Development & Environment Tools Experience:

  • Continuous integration engines - (Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD)
  • Collaboration Tools – (Confluence, Jira)
  • Support Ticketing tools – (ServiceNow)
  • Application Monitoring – (Grafana, Splunk)
  • Database administration – (MySQL, Sybase, PostgreSQL)
