Nomura is looking for a strong technologist to join the Group Platform Services and Engineering team. This team is responsible for enhancing the developer experience, uplifting cyber resilience by transforming out access management technology and rolling out best in class platforms and services across all Nomura group companies. 


Role description:
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer within the Group Platform Service and Engineering team, responsible for the set up and management of CI/CD pipelines in Gitlab, Jenkins with exposure to IAC (Terraform ideally), and DevSecOps practices.
As part of a global team, it will be expected to work with peers in other regions and operators offshore.


Role / Principal Accountabilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of Gitlab pipelines in a GitOps workflow.
  • Working in a consultancy role for our development community to further automate existing pipeline automation (Jenkins and Ansible).
  • Buildout and management of Buildpacks/IaC deployment and container images.
  • Propose, design, and implement enhancements and additions to current environment.
  • Develop Application automation standards and procedures.
  • Mentor fellow engineers on technical issues, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist in managing continuous improvement of engineering, delivery, and operational practices.
  • Assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in creating and maintaining the following:
  • o    Git pipelines (CI/CD)
  • o    Jenkins Pipelines
  • o    Helm Charts
  • o    IAC templates (Terraform experience)
  • o    DevSecOps integration to pipelines
  • Experience with GitOps methodologies
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Ansible/Ansible Roles
  • Experience working with development community
  • The ability to work with customers to gather feedback, train, and partners to evolve the service
  • End-to-end understanding of systems development life cycle methodology
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding product lifecycle as well as how technical systems work and interact
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of all critical Production Support processes
  • Exposure to agile development practices


Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or proven equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and experience of AWS
  • Exposure to Configuration Management Solutions such as Ansible, Terraform
  • Understanding of scripting languages such as Python, Bash & Java
  • Tangible experience of DevOps tools i.e., Jenkins, GIT, Nexus, Jira 
  • Container technology i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
  • Knowledge of operating system fundamentals including diagnostics, tuning, and monitoring of IO, Networks, CPU and Memory
