Nomura’s investment banking division provides a vast array of advisory and capital-raising solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments and public-sector organizations around the world. Our global teams act as geographic, product and industry specialists. 

 

The Acquisition & Leveraged Finance group sits within Nomura’s Global Finance business. In Europe, the team has executed over 25 European leveraged finance transactions in the last twelve months, raising over €31bn eq. financing for clients across loans and high yield bonds.

 

The group is a single platform providing debt financing for private equity clients and corporate clients across the sub-investment grade credit ratings spectrum. Our clients can range from a listed corporate client undertaking an acquisition of another corporate or a financial sponsor client undertaking a leveraged buyout or take private transaction.

  • Acquisition finance works typically with corporate clients advising them on event driven transactions and acquisition-related debt financing (bridge loans, term loan facilities and bonds)
  • Leveraged finance provides debt financing for leveraged buyouts (LBOs), acquisitions and leveraged refinancings involving a variety of debt products (such as leveraged loans, 2nd lien loans, mezzanine loans and high yield bonds)

 

Role Description

Assist in all aspects of deal execution from marketing to closing:

  • Development of client presentation, structuring and execution activities.
  • Cashflow & financial modelling
  • Benchmarking, comparables and analysis of company financial information, including credit metric statistics needed
  • Detailed credit analysis including due diligence and the management of the internal credit approval process
  • Preparation and support around the syndication of executed transactions (e.g. information memorandum and bank presentation preparation and roadshow materials)
  • Travel with senior bankers in order to support them with client meetings

 

Desired profile, qualifications and knowledge required

  • Experience in Leveraged Finance   
  • General understanding of debt / leveraged finance products and the European leveraged finance capital markets
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communications skills – ability to interact confidently with banking professionals and clients
  • Team work – experience working in a project based environment with tight deadlines and as part of a broader team
  • Ability to understand companies’ business models and credit analysis in general
  • Strong analytical skills and numerical abilities, including familiarity with financial modelling
  • MBA or equivalent qualification.
