Division Overview:

Group Infrastructure Services (GIS) is responsible for the firm-wide IT Infrastructure covering Engineering, Administration & Support functions. GIS consists of multiple functional areas spanning Workspace, Core infrastructure, Platform Delivery & Infra Service Management.  The technology portfolio a wide array of IT Infra platforms spanning Cloud, Compute, Storage, Networks, Databases, Backups, Datacentres, Web, Middleware, Messaging, Collaboration, Voice, Video, End user devices, Mobile, Virtualization etc

               

Role Description:

Nomura is seeking a skilled Systems Analyst to join our Global Infrastructure Services team, specializing in Red Hat Linux and Windows system administration with VMware virtualization expertise. This role provides critical L2 support for our enterprise infrastructure while ensuring seamless business-as-usual (BAU) operations.

 

Shift Coverage & Support

  • Handle US Shift starting 12:30 PM EST & provide coverage for early Japan shift to support Windows and Linux L2 support
  • Weekend & On-call support to manage production changes & incidents across both platforms
  • Provide 24/7 support for critical Windows and Red Hat Linux infrastructure

Technical Operations

  • Hardware Break-fix coordination with Microsoft, Red Hat, and Cisco/HPE vendors
  • Prepare and implement scheduled system changes during off-hours/weekends for both Windows and Linux systems
  • Handle user requests related to Windows and Linux platforms
  • Perform system maintenance, patching, and updates across hybrid environments

Incident & Change Management

  • Manage production issues, attend Incident bridge calls with application & infrastructure teams
  • Escalate and liaise with engineering teams for complex troubleshooting issues
  • Collaborate with regional peers for change planning & implementation across global infrastructure
  • Handle production outages/incidents in line with ITIL practices for both Windows and Linux environments

Cross-Platform Integration

  • Ensure seamless integration between Windows and Linux environments
  • Support hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure requirements
  • Maintain documentation for both Windows and Linux system configurations and procedures

 

 

 

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Overall Experience

  • 1-3 years of combined experience in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 Administration and Red Hat Linux administration
  • Proven track record in enterprise-level system administration across hybrid environments

 

Windows Administration Skills

  • Good working experience & hands-on knowledge of Windows Server environments
  • Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) experience
  • Active Directory: Domain controller management, DNS, DHCP administration
  • IIS Administration: Web server configuration and troubleshooting
  • Windows Updates: WSUS management and patch deployment strategies
  • Backup & Recovery: Windows Server Backup, snapshot management experience
  • Security: Windows Defender, firewall configuration, certificate management
  • Basic understanding for regular tasks automation using PowerShell, Group Policy, and SCCM

 

Red Hat Linux Administration Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9)
  • Linux system installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Package management using YUM/DNF and RPM
  • User and group management, file permissions, and security hardening
  • Linux networking configuration (TCP/IP, routing, firewall management)
  • Shell scripting (Bash) and automation for routine administrative tasks
  • System monitoring and performance tuning using native Linux tools
  • Log file analysis and troubleshooting using system logs
  • Linux backup and recovery procedures
  • Basic understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Podman)
  • Experience with Linux security tools and SELinux configuration

 

Virtualization & Infrastructure

  • Experience with VMware vSphere and Hyper-V virtualization (2-3 years)
  • Basic storage & VM datastore knowledge (SAN, NAS, iSCSI)
  • Working experience with large-scale server environments across Windows and Linux platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve OS & server level issues in both Windows and Linux environments

 

Hardware & Additional Skills

  • Experience with Cisco and HPE servers is an added advantage
  • Understanding of cross-platform integration and interoperability
  • Excellent English written, verbal, and presentation skills
