Department overview:
Due to the strategic decision to manage the Global Markets and Investment Banking divisions within the EMEA region of Continental Europe from the Frankfurt location, increased demands are placed on the local branch. Liquidity management is an important part of corporate governance and plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and proper functioning of the investment bank in continental Europe.
 
The Liquidity Management function is fully integrated into Group Treasury and fulfils local, regional, and global tasks, such as managing liquidity for the Continental Europe-based business and executing projects that affect the Group's entire treasury worldwide.

The Liquidity Manager reports directly to the Head of Liquidity Management and is responsible for fulfilling the liquidity management function of the investment bank. This includes a wide range of responsibilities in the areas of resource management, risk management, governance and reporting to internal and external stakeholders at various levels in close cooperation with international treasury teams.

 

Key objectives critical to success:

•    Ensuring compliance with liquidity risk limits and thresholds
•    Participation in the development and implementation of strategies for short- and long-term liquidity planning
•    Analysis of data to better understand and optimize the company's liquidity framework in relation to all liquidity sources and uses, including documentation
•    Conducting forecasts of liquidity needs, analysing cash flows, considering capital requirements and planning the use of financing instruments
•    Review and calibration of liquidity risk appetite, liquidity risk appetites and derived limits
•    Participation in the development and implementation of liquidity management strategies to improve efficiency and profitability of the liquidity position
•    Ensure correct reporting of liquidity metrics for internal and external reports delivered by other treasury teams
•    Forecasting the medium and long-term financing needs of the local investment bank
•    Review and improve the liquidity risk models used in the bank together with the treasury team at the Group's head office
•    Management of local requirements (MaRisk) in relation to the interpretation of regulatory requirements as well as implementation control of the requirements and assumption of communication with the supervisory authorities
•    Identification and assessment of liquidity risks and development of risk mitigation measures as well as preparation of contingency plans to ensure sufficient liquidity in a worst-case scenario
•    Supporting colleagues in risk management in fulfilling the risk function, monitoring liquidity risk
•    Working with the global treasury team to ensure that processes (regulatory reporting, risk management) are in line with general guidelines and strategic continuity is maintained, while complying with local regulations
•    Collaboration in regional and global projects


Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
•    A degree with a focus on economics, finance, mathematics, or a comparable field
•    Professional experience in the areas of treasury, liquidity management or liquidity risk management at a financial services company/consulting firm
•    The ability to identify short-term and long-term liquidity needs and to derive solutions for action from this is indispensable
•    Good knowledge of conducting analysis and interpreting financial data related to a bank's liquidity situation
•    Profound understanding of regulatory requirements related to liquidity management
•    Direct experience with financial risks
•    Accounting knowledge is an advantage
•    Ability to operate in an international matrix organization
•    Very good written and spoken English skills
•    Good user-related knowledge of common reporting and database query systems
•    Strong analytical skills with an eye for the essentials and thinks and works holistically with a conceptual overview. The consulting-intensive activity requires a high degree of social competence as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
