Department overview:

 

Every company is dependent on its service providers. No firm can function without them. Financial Institutions are not different from industrial companies in this respect. To prevent service disruptions, any damage to clients and the financial markets, active risk management of these vendor relationships is essential. At Nomura, the Business Resilience & Outsourcing Office is responsible for managing these risks.

 

The team has two main responsibilities:

  1. Second Line of Defense function for Third Party Risk and
  2. Business Continuity / Resilience Management.

As part of the Second Line of Defense function, the team is responsible for managing, monitoring and evaluating the main risks originating from the service providers NFPE works with. The objective is to identify and manage the third party risk portfolio with a direct reporting line into the Management Board of NFPE. The team works in close collaboration with all departments and all branches of NFPE across Europe to ensure sound risk management.

 

As part of the Business Continuity / Resilience Management, the team is responsible for the crisis management and contingency planning of NFPE. The objective is to ensure NFPE is able to serve its clients and stay operational even in times of crisis and emergency. 

 

What’s your role?

 

As an Analyst in the team you will:  

 

  • Be the backbone of the team, assisting with third-party risk management and business resilience initiatives.
  • Develop regular reports for senior management on third party risk and business continuity.
  • Support/ contribute to strategic projects of the department.
  • Scrutinize and challenge controls implemented by First Line of Defense (e.g., Global Markets or Finance).
  • Support due diligence of service providers to ensure internal standards and policies are met.
  • Further develop and implement policies and procedures to manage third party risks and business resilience.
  • Support the crisis management in the implementation and evaluation of business continuity measures.
  • Engage with Nomura’s global network, harnessing international insights and best practices to enhance local strategies.
  • Navigate and manage system and process change management, ensuring smooth transitions and continuous improvement.

  • Fluency in English is essential and German is considered a plus.
