Working in the Nomura Asset Management (NAM) division, the EMEA Distribution team provides services to a wide range of clients across the EMEA region, whilst attempting to secure more clients into our wide range of products.  We sell NAM products as well as those of associate companies such as New Forests.

Please note you will be required to work fully remotely for this role.
The role is based in Paris and employed by NAMEU, Germany. 


Geographical Coverage
This role is focused entirely on the market of France. Other coverage will be agreed in advance with the Head of EMEA Distribution.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Main priority is to focus on developing new business from French clients and prospects.
  • Agree the strategy in the country with the Head of Southern Europe, who for France mainly covers Tier 1 Global Financial Institutions (ie wholesale).
  • The role requires close collaboration with others in the EMEA Distribution team working in the country.
  • It requires co-ordination with our Nomura Bank colleagues in Paris (Capital Markets and Investment Banking).
  • Work with other NAM staff to achieve success e.g. Marketing, Compliance, etc.
  • Agree and execute a PR strategy for the country with the Head of Southern Europe.
  • Inevitably some clients / prospects cross borders. It is essential in the role to co-ordinate with others in the team about coverage and activity.
  • Document all activity on Salesforce and keep pipeline information accurate and up-to-date.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly activity reports.
  • This role has a Sales Support team attached, although not directly reporting to them. It is the Sales person’s role to ensure that the Sales Support person is involved at appropriate points throughout the sales process and does as much of the preparation / follow ups as possible, to maximise overall efficiency.
  • All activities to be completed within the boundaries of Legal and Compliance.
  • Carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with all NAM procedures and policies.


Description of Key Tasks
The role involves being in contact with a range of clients and prospects by email / phone; discussing their current and future needs; presenting NAM capabilities by phone, video conference, and / or face-to-face meetings. Typically, an expert from an investment team will present with the sales person, however not always.


If successful, the task of onboarding the client is handed over to the NAM Client Service Team, however the sales person will remain in contact with the client, in order to constantly evaluate new sales opportunities and cross sell other opportunities.


Attendance at local events / conferences as needed.


NAM works with NIP / NFPE in the region. The role requires building strong relationships with those colleagues; getting them to introduce our products to their clients and introduce us to their clients.  Maintenance of agreed coverage / exclusion lists is critical here.


This role does not sign off any external documents / agreements.


Skills & Experience

  • Someone with a strong investor network, covering both institutional and tier 2/3 local financial institutions, family offices etc.
  • Long established Paris-based asset management experience.
  • Experience of both alternatives and liquid strategies.
  • Degree from Tier One French institution with strong network of contacts.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with clients and prospects, but also internally.
  • Ability to aim towards and meet specific sales targets, and work towards a team target.
  • Strong investment knowledge on product and macro basis.
  • Excellent presentation skills people/communication skills.
  • Team spirit is key, together with the ability to be a self-starter and lateral thinker.
  • Strong with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in French and English.
