Role Overview
Manage a team of professional Relationship Managers in DIFC.
Responsibilities
1. Business & Revenue Leadership
Strategic Business Management
- Own annual revenue, asset-gathering, and cost budgets for assigned market
- Translate firm-wide wealth management strategy into concrete team business plans with quarterly reviews
- Develop client-coverage models that maximize wallet-share and cross-sell opportunities across lending, trusts, insurance, and investment products
- Personally oversee relationships with top 10-20 strategic clients and accompany RMs on critical prospect meetings
Commercial Excellence
- Maintain entrepreneurial mindset to originate HNW/UHNW clients and identify white-space opportunities
- Demonstrate portfolio construction expertise across public markets, alternatives, credit, trust, and insurance solutions
- Apply pricing discipline and measurement of business profitability
- Orchestrate cross-sell initiatives leveraging internal partners (lending, trust, GM solutions)
2. Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance
First-Line Risk Ownership
- Implement Operational Permanent Control Plans and monitor key risk indicators
- Clear outstanding periodic review within required timelines
- Approve new account openings and material KYC refreshes
- Ensure all client documentation maintains "audit-ready" status
Regulatory Supervision
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations (SFC, MAS, HKMA, or local capital-market rules)
- Enforce trading, AML, sanctions, cross-border, and personal-account dealing policies
- Report incidents (market, credit, operational, conduct) within required timelines
- Lead corrective-action plans and root-cause analysis for regulatory breaches
Supervisory Obligations for Relationship Managers
- Review and pre-approve all new client take-on files for KYC completeness and risk classification
- Conduct quarterly sample checks on client portfolios for suitability and concentration risks
- Sign off on discretionary mandates, credit facilities above internal limits, and non-standard structured products
- Monitor RM communications for fair-dealing and mis-selling risks
- Maintain proper documentation, especially vetting contact report files which are subject to internal audit and regulatory inspection
3. People Leadership & Talent Development
Team Management
- Recruit, coach, and retain high-caliber RMs
- Set individual sales, pipeline, risk, and client-satisfaction targets
- Conduct performance reviews monthly or quarterly (minimum frequency to ensure adequate oversight)
- Maintain written succession plans for all critical roles, example: career progression for ARM
Professional Development
- Identify skill gaps and organize structured training on investments, credit, and regulatory changes
- Ensure completion of mandatory training (AML, fraud, cyber-security, market conduct) within required timelines
- Conduct "fit & proper" checks and annual attestations for all supervised persons
- Provide comprehensive guidance to new joiners on firm systems and processes
Team Culture & Engagement
- Encourage regular office attendance to enhance team bonding and collaboration
- Manage performance and conduct issues with early HR engagement
- Monitor team member whereabouts and wellbeing as needed
- Promote speak-up culture, diversity targets, and ethical role-modeling
4. Operational Leadership
Process Optimization
- Work with BM to streamlined workflows for RM onboarding, KYC refresh, and credit origination
- Partnering BM, FCCs to improve client onboarding experiences
- Review of business agreements and fee structures
Governance & Reporting Requirements
Regular Management Activities
- Chair weekly team pipeline and risk meetings
- Review monthly KPI dashboards (revenue, AUM, NNA, exceptions, risk events)
- Contribute to compliance thematic reviews with timely remediation
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain comprehensive supervision logs documenting all oversight activities
- Ensure all regulatory reporting meets required timelines and standards
- Keep current with firm policies including Gift &E, T&E, HR policies, sales manuals, and approval matrix
Requirements
- Degree in Business or Finance or related disciplines
- Proven track record of minimum 15 years+ of banking experience in wealth management or private banking
- Strong ability in leadership and management skills
- Excellent working knowledge of financial markets, asset classes, products and services
- Excellent client relationship management skills, communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders
