Role Description

 

The Business Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with our International Wealth Management services across various global markets. In addition, develop, implement and manage a robust Control Framework to administer the well-functioning of front office activities; whereby identified risks are contained and fulfil the regulatory requirements and internal operating procedures of the Bank.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee business control functions are operating in an efficient manner.
  • Responsible for overseeing continuous assurance reviews on key Front Office activities to ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of reporting decks including Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) reporting in the monthly Control Forum and publishing monthly Scorecard results.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of Operational Losses Events (“ORE”), collaborating with relevant stakeholders to determine sequence of events, identify control weaknesses, and develop preventive action plans.
  • Coordinate procedure refresh with relevant stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities on workflows, procedures, and systems to better manage controls and overall client experience.
  • Foster a culture of risk awareness among staff, as well as support and provide advisory on risk related matters to Business Units
  • Conduct risk or conduct related ad hoc review work as required.
  • Provide orientation training for new hires and ad-hoc training to sales staff.
  • Ability to supervise junior team members to ensure well-functioning of the department.
  • Ability to work independently with other support functions, including Business Management, Operations, Compliance, Legal and Operational Risk Management.
  • Communication with stakeholders to ensure controls are functioning and provide necessary support to Management.

 

 

Requirements

  • Minimum Degree from an accredited University.
  • Minimum 10 years’ working experience in risk management function in Private Banking or Wealth Management.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products, financial markets, international regulations and market dynamics.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive organizational change.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and multicultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Fluency in English and ability to read and communicate in Chinese/Putonghua.
