Role description:
Lead the Equities Market Risk team in Asia ex Japan, with reporting lines into the global head of Equities Market Risk Management (based in NY) and the regional head of market risk (HK).
Responsible for leading the team which identifies, measures, monitors, and provides challenge to the Business regarding strategy and appetite for market risks across Asian Equity Products. The successful candidate will work closely with trading desks, senior management, and global risk teams to ensure effective risk management
Additional responsibilities:
- Monitor and understand the drivers of P&L volatility, as well as changes to risk metrics and the impact to position limits
- Identify and perform deep-dive analysis on significant risk positions, emerging risks, or unusual patterns
- Monitor market events and assess potential impacts on portfolio risk and P&L
- Developing and maintaining risk reports and analytic tools
- Work closely with trading and sales to assess risk and business strategy, as well as other corporate functions such as model validation, Finance, and IT
- Review committee/transaction approvals
- Lead and develop the junior members of the equity market risk team
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
- Intellectual curiosity and a passion for understanding broader financial markets
- 7+ years in market risk management, preferably with Asian markets focus
- Strong understanding of equity products and structured derivatives in particular
- Working knowledge of option pricing models
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Independent decision-making ability
- Programming skills (python or SQL) would be an advantage
- Strong people management and coaching abilities
