Department Overview:

The Management Information and Cost Management & Analytics (MICMA) team is the strategic finance partner for Nomura's Asia ex-Japan region. We provide data-driven insights, financial analysis, and strategic advisory to support business decision-making across front office, corporate functions, and regional leadership. We are on a journey to enhance our analytical capabilities and prepare for future technology adoption while delivering immediate value through improved data practices and automation.

 

Role Overview:

The VP - Management Information & Data Analytics is a strategic role that will strengthen MICMA's data analytics capabilities and support the team's evolution into a proactive, insight-driven finance partner. In this position, you will work closely with the Team Lead to establish robust data foundations, develop sophisticated analytical frameworks, and deliver actionable insights to senior stakeholders. This hands -on role combines strong technical skills in data analytics and financial modeling with FP&A expertise, requiring you to deliver immediate analytical value while building the foundations for future capabilities.

 

Role Description:

  • Work closely with the Team Lead to develop financial models, performance dashboards and analytical summaries to support business reviews, executive briefings, and cost optimization exercises
  • Provide analytical support and coordination for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes
  • Drive enhancements to data infrastructure, governance, quality and process efficiency by
    • Establishing unified data architecture that integrates multiple source systems with robust data quality frameworks and governance
    • Leading data quality initiatives, implementing validation rules, reconciliation processes, and error monitoring to ensure accuracy and reliability
    • Implementing process efficiency improvements to streamline month-end workflows and reduce manual effort
    • Documenting and standardizing data sources, transformations, and analytical methodologies ensuring transparency and knowledge transfer
  • Partner with IT to evaluate and advance existing AI proof-of-concept projects, translating pilots into scalable solutions while building organizational AI-readiness

 

Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Statistics or related disciplines, preferably with a recognized professional accounting qualification and management accounting background
  • Min 8 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, management information, business intelligence, or analytics roles
  • Financial services experience in investment banking, asset management, or similar environment
  • Strong FP&A capabilities including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to explain complex analyses to non-technical audiences
  • Microsoft Excel: Expert-level proficiency including advanced formulas, Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA/Macros, and complex financial modeling
  • Power BI: Advanced proficiency including data modeling, DAX, custom visualizations, dashboard design, and Power BI Service administration
  • SQL: Strong proficiency in complex queries, data extraction and transformation, and query optimization
  • Python or R for data analysis; Power Automate, Alteryx, or similar automation/data preparation tools
  • Good understanding of data visualization principles and storytelling with data
  • Good understanding of AI/ML concepts and emerging technologies
