Department Overview

The mission of Corporate Communications is to protect, promote and advance the brand and reputation of Nomura to build stakeholder trust and create an unshakeable cohort of key supporters that will advocate for, and, when necessary, defend our brand and reputation while promoting the company’s culture and driving colleague engagement.  It is the central function that coordinates all internal and external communications activities for the company. The team in Asia ex-Japan consists of four functions: External Communications, Internal Communications, Branding & Marketing, and Social Impact.

 

Role Description

This role leads Internal Communications across the Asia ex-Japan region. You will advise senior leaders on how to communicate effectively with colleagues, shape the stories the firm tells internally, and strengthen the connection between employees and Nomura's strategy and culture. The position involves close collaboration with senior stakeholders across the region and with global Corporate Communications counterparts.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead internal communications across Asia ex-Japan, working with teams in Hong Kong, Singapore, the Chinese Mainland, India, Korea, and Australia.
  • Partner with Nomura's business divisions — including Investment Banking, Global Markets, International Wealth Management, and Investment Management — to develop and deliver creative internal communications plans.
  • Advise and support senior leaders on their communications: drafting narratives, talking points, speeches, and other materials that help colleagues understand and connect with the firm's direction.
  • Develop crisis communications plans and help manage risks to the firm's reputation.
  • Collaborate closely with global colleagues to deliver projects and content that are broader in scale.
  • Manage townhalls, fireside chats, podcasts and other regional executive communication activity.
  • Align global strategy and messaging to ensure consistency in strategy, narrative, and messaging across region while preserving local relevance within a globally coherent framework.
  • Work with Human Resources and other corporate functions to strengthen company culture and how Nomura is perceived as an employer.
  • Manage one direct report and collaborate with wider teams to deliver initiatives and maintain consistency with global standards.
  • Build external networks to stay informed on industry trends and best practices.
  • Coordinate submissions for industry awards.

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • 10+ years' experience in corporate communications, media relations, content writing, or journalism, with a focus on financial services.
  • Strong written and spoken English. Business-level Cantonese is preferred; Mandarin or Japanese fluency is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to influence and build trust with senior stakeholders, even without direct reporting line authority.
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams, geographies, and reporting lines simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Commitment to developing yourself and your team.
  • Experience with external communications and social media is a strong advantage.
  • University degree in any discipline.
