Department overview:

The Legal team is part of the Legal, Compliance and Controls (“LCC”) function. The LCC team comprises lawyers, compliance and governance professionals who serve Nomura’s business across Investment Banking, Global Markets, Corporate and International Wealth Management divisions. The International Wealth Management business operates from in Singapore and Hong Kong and had recently opened a branch in the Dubai International Finance Centre.


Role description:
We are looking for a Lawyer to join the Asia ex-Japan (“AeJ”) Global Markets Legal team, with primary coverage of the Asia ex-Japan GM Equities business to focus on equity OTC derivatives, corporate equity derivatives solutions, structured equity linked products and cash equities.

 

Responsibilities Include

  • Trusted legal partner to the AeJ GM franchise, to provide legal advice and support to the Global Markets in AeJ with focus on covering the Equities and Client Financing Solutions desks.
  • Draft and review of term sheets, final transaction documentation and related pitch and other material for structured derivative transactions and products to our AeJ client base
  • Product and transactional related advisory to AeJ GM and corporate stakeholders with focus on Equities related products and initiatives. 
  • Legal advice and coverage on ad hoc and situational matters with scope to assist team members from time to time.
  • Advise on life-cycle and extraordinary events affecting businesses and transactions supported.
  • Platform and project related advisory and legal advice on market developments and regulatory changes that impact relevant coverage businesses.
  • Engagement and management of external counsel from time to time in connection with the foregoing. 

 

Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:

  • Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction with at least 10 years of experience obtained in an international law firm and/or investment bank.
  • Proven experience in equity derivatives and structured products.
  • Team player with flexible and agile approach to work.  Proactive and detail-oriented. 
  • Personable and able to manage effective relationships with business, corporate partners, clients and external counsel.
  • Strong English written and spoken English language skills.  Chinese language capability a plus.
