Role Description

The Executive Director, Funds Specialist, will serve as a senior product expert and strategic leader within our International Wealth Management division, responsible for driving the funds and alternative investments business across all major asset classes. This role requires a seasoned professional who can provide comprehensive coverage of traditional funds while supporting our high-net-worth client base with sophisticated investment solutions and strategic portfolio guidance.

 

Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Lead the full value chain of funds and alternative investments business, driving strategic initiatives to increase product penetration rates across client portfolios
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies for traditional mutual funds, hedge funds, alternative investments, and ETFs
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align fund strategies with overall business objectives and market opportunities

 

Product Expertise & Due Diligence

  • Conduct comprehensive product due diligence and analysis across all major asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, Credit, and Alternative Investments
  • Maintain deep expertise in fund operations, dealing procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements across the Asia region
  • Lead independent peer competitor analysis and fund performance evaluations
  • Oversee ongoing product review processes, platform maintenance, and enhancement initiatives

 

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Partner with investment advisors to provide expert guidance on funds, hedge funds, and private markets products
  • Deliver sophisticated asset allocation recommendations tailored to high-net-worth client portfolios
  • Provide exceptional advisory services and comprehensive sales support to drive product adoption
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

 

Thought Leadership & Market Intelligence

  • Formulate and develop investment ideas in alignment with Chief Investment Officer perspectives
  • Create high-quality marketing materials, investment commentary, pitch books, and presentation materials
  • Provide timely and comprehensive responses to complex queries related to managed investments and ETFs
  • Produce detailed client analytics to identify opportunities for increased product penetration

 

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and motivate sales activities across multiple teams
  • Organize and coordinate internal and external fund events, conference calls, and marketing activities
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives
  • Drive cross-selling opportunities for managed investment products using a holistic approach

 

Requirements

  • Minimum Degree in business or finance from an accredited University
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Fund Product Specialist or similar role within global financial institutions
  • Demonstrated expertise covering all major asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, Credit, Alternative Investments)
  • Proven track record in asset management business with deep understanding of fund structures and operations
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and sophisticated investment products
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese)
  • CFA or CAIA designation strongly preferred
  • Relevant regulatory licenses as required for Hong Kong market
  • Strong leadership abilities with proven track record of team collaboration and motivation
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Deep understanding of wealth management principles and client service excellence
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to regulatory compliance
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/VBA for complex financial modeling and analysis
  • Expert-level Bloomberg terminal skills
  • Strong analytical capabilities for independent fund analysis and peer comparisons
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in Asia-Pacific markets
