Department overview:
Nomura's Global Middle Office "GMO" provides support to Global Markets business by performing Transaction Control and Product Control activities. The function is an integral part of the Finance division and comprises of Middle office, Product Control, Collateral and Valuation teams. The Credit coverage includes Primary Syndication, Flow Trading, Repo Trading and Structured Credit business. The GMO Transaction Control team works closely with the business to provide pre and post trade execution support.
Role description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-driven candidate to join our Credit MO team supporting the Credit desk within AEJ Global Markets division. The candidate should have a familiarity with Asian credit markets, including high-yield products, and financing instruments such as Repos. The candidate needs to be a confident in communication and have a strong control mind-set to succeed in this role.
Additional responsibilities:
- Candidate must be willing to partner with trading desks on operational and settlement related matters while maintaining the second line of defense as a core control function.
- Demonstrate an understanding of front to back trade flows as well as Risk and P&L.
- Production of daily end-of-day flash P&L and associated market data integrity verification.
- Investigation and resolution of position and trade exceptions through daily reconciliations.
- Execution and management of lifecycle events for credit products such as Bond defaults, credit events and succession events.
- Build a strong network across multiple departments within the firm such as Trading, Risk, Technology and other areas of Operations with the goal to help streamline front to back processes.
- Actively contribute in new business or process change initiatives through collaboration with other departments.
- Support regional and global digital tool and automation initiatives. Identify and drive automation opportunities to enhance control and improve efficiency.
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in trade support within banking or financial servicesExperience working within a bank / financial services environment
- Experience with Structured Notes, Credit Derivatives, Fixed Income and DCM (Debt Capital Markets) issuances
- Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate processes, identify control gaps, and implement improvements
- Excellent communication skill for effective interaction with senior stakeholders and business.
- Strong control mind set, and not afraid to ask questions, challenge the status quo and suggest changes and re-invent the process.
