Department overview
 

The Trading System Support team provides both local and global technical support of the Instinet’s trading environment. The applicant must be highly motivated, able to work on their own initiative, have excellent attention detail whilst working in a pressured environment. The job will be to provide exceptional customer service, technical and operational support to internal and external clients. Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of Instinet’s Trading Environment. The right candidate should welcome a challenge, embrace change, be creative, work well under tight deadlines, and thrive in a team-oriented, results-oriented environment. Weekend and bank holiday cover will be required from time to time.


Key objectives critical to success


•    Monitor & Support Instinet’s real-time trading environment – DMA, Crossing, Low latency Solutions, Algorithmic and Smart Order Routing Platforms. 
•    Support of low latency high frequency co-located trading environments, with specialised focus on FIX-to-native and native-to-native solutions.
•    Support of Instinet’s MTF trading venue. 
•    Daily health checks on critical systems, check automation and configurations of real-time monitoring solutions. 
•    Provide rapid response and resolution to incidents affecting the production trading systems. 
•    Liaise between front-office and development teams for quick and effective escalation and resolution. 
•    Act as a production change gatekeeper, managing and deploying changes, including configuration and software release.  
•    Analyse logs and monitoring tools to identify and resolve system issues. 
•    Maintain and develop strong documentation (runbooks, troubleshooting guides, system configuration)
•    Implementation and in-depth support of Exchange connectivity, bringing up new gateways and connections and market data feeds/protocols.


Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

 

Essential


•    Ability to work well under pressure with a true sense of urgency and excellent teamwork skills.
•    Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to act as a bridge between technology and front office teams.
•    Understanding of common institutional trading practices, especially in conjunction with connectivity and electronic trading.
•    Exposure to OMS and EMS platforms. 
•    Strong understanding of the European securities markets and structure, order lifecycle, FIX protocol and market data.
•    Technically sound experience of Unix environments.   
•    Good understanding of Networking principles.

 

Desirable


•    Proficient in scripting and automation (preferably Shell and Python). 
•    Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic).
