Department Overview

 

Financial Data & Business Analysis will be responsible for the ownership, analysis, control and governance of financial, liquidity and business-cost data supporting Instinet Europe Limited’s Clearing & Settlement Services business and relevant activities within Business Control.

 

The role will sit within Business Operations and provide dedicated analytical ownership of the financial economics of the Clearing & Settlement Services business, ensuring that the relationship between client activity, transaction volumes, clearing and settlement activity, liquidity utilisation, infrastructure costs, client charges and business profitability is understood, appropriately controlled and accurately represented.

 

Role Description

 

The successful candidate will take ownership of the financial and analytical data provided by Business Operations to Finance for client invoicing and other financial processes, together with oversight of relevant NPE and associated business costs. The individual will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand underlying cost and revenue drivers, investigate material movements and provide meaningful analysis to support business management and decision-making.

In addition, the role will have responsibility for relevant financial data, modelling, EUCs and analytical activities undertaken within Business Control.

 

Key objectives critical to success (and not limted to):

 

  • Own the financial and analytical data supporting the Clearing & Settlement Services business.
  • Lead the development, maintenance and governance of liquidity-related data, reporting and analytical models.
  • Business Operations oversight of the financial and transactional data supplied to Finance for client invoicing.
  • Business Operations oversight, monitoring and analysis of relevant NPE and associated costs of operating the Clearing & Settlement Services business.
  • Financial models and material EUCs operated within Business Operations for Clearing & Settlement Services and relevant Business Control activities.
  • Take ownership of key financial data, analytical models, reporting and End User Computing (EUC) tools that support Business Control activities.
  • All aspects of Business and Management Information
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across Business Operations, the Front Office, Business Control, Finance, Treasury, Technology, Product and other relevant functions.

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

 

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Business or a related discipline.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience within an investment bank, broker-dealer, agency brokerage, clearing or financial-market infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledge of cash equities, clearing and settlement and the associated trade lifecycle.
  • Understanding of CCPs, CSDs, custodians, exchanges and associated infrastructure charging models
  • Significant prior experience in financial analysis, business analysis, management information, financial control, product control or a comparable analytical role within financial services.
  • Strong quantitative and financial analytical capability with demonstrable experience analysing large and complex financial or transactional data sets.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience developing and maintaining complex financial models and EUCs.
  • Experience analysing revenues, costs, invoices and business profitability, with strong understanding of financial data controls, reconciliations and data-quality management.
